Super Mario Cupcakes!

I don't usually get the chance to work on cupcakes with anyone, but Amber and Nicole needed some help and a place to make cupcakes so their friend (who the cupcakes are for) wouldn't see them! Anyhow, we did Super Mario cupcakes and they turned out soooo great!Nicole got set up with the melting chocolates....

I made some icing and Amber got going on icing all the cupcakes...

I iced Mario and the Princess over a stencil I made and wax paper...

Amber and Nicole put the cupcakes together! They really look awesome, totally impressed!

Frogs & Lily Pads Cake

So Katie requested Frogs for the birthday cupcakes after I had decided to do the fat cats! I quickly threw together this fun frog and lily pad cakes for her the morning of the 3 birthday BBQ. The only thing that got eaten on it was the frogs! (I think that was Lilah's doing!) The fat cats were a bigger success, even afer melting in the trunk of my car... (I wont get into that, I wasnt happy!!)

Mother's Day Sugar Cookies

While we were on the island this past weekend, Mom and I popped into the cake decorating store in Victoria (my favorite place for decorating supplies). Mom got these great edible markers and rice paper for me to try out... so I made sugar cookies with Royal icing. They looked great, but were a little bit bland in taste... Mom gave me some tips, I will do better next time!

Mother's Day Cupcakes "Flowers on the Lawn"

I found the idea for these fun flowers on another blog and though it would be fun to make it look like they were on the lawn! You start with a yellow melting wafer on wax paper with a stencil (so all the flowers look the same) and start drawing with melted white melting wafers. Throw the outline in the freezer for a few minutes before continuing on to the pink melting wafer filling (that way the flower holds its shape)
Again, put the flower into the freezer for a few minutes... when you pull them out and flip them over, this is what they look like!
Mix up some butter cream icing... mix in some Wilton Kelly Green food coloring....
Ice with the icing tip that makes "grass" and place the flower on top! Super simple and Super Yummy!
Happy Mother's Day!!

Cake Pop - Chicks!

For Easter this year I made a batch of Cake Pop Chicks! (thanks to Jeanie for showing me the fun recipe) So far they have been a hit! Very easy, just a little time consuming to make!
First you start out by baking a cake. Once it has cooled, crumble it to bits! Mix in a thing of icing, shape into balls and insert the lollipop stick with a bit of melted white chocolate. After all the balls have been shaped, they go into the fridge for a couple hours so they are ready to be dipped in melted chocolate. I got the yellow melting wafers at Michaels. (Lucky for me Brian found me some really great stiff styrofoam to put the cake pops in for drying and holding)The beak, wings and feet are stuck on with more melted chocolate, it acts like a glue.
I also bought little treat bags and ribbon so that they could each be individually wrapped... I think they turned out pretty cute!
So I only ended up with about 30... the recipe says you should have 40-50... maybe I made them too big, but I dont think they really could be much smaller!

This was a fun little project and there are so many different things you could make these into... might have to do it again sometime!
